Delaware is small enough for a few people to make a real difference.
First State Volunteers is a new, volunteer-run group. We're working on four projects and looking for people who want to help build it from the beginning.

We'd rather do a few things well than promise many. Here is where each one stands today.
Highway cleanup
We've adopted a stretch of Delaware highway and keep it clear of litter. Cleanups are a few hours, supplies are provided, and no experience is needed.
Science with elementary students
Our volunteers run hands-on science experiments in an elementary school classroom. See what we did.
Historical records transcription
Handwritten records are hard to search and easy to lose. We turn them into typed text that researchers, students, and families can use. Our founder has years of experience transcribing Civil War documents by hand, and we pair that care with modern tools, so you don't need to read old handwriting to start.
Tech help for seniors
We're setting up free, one-on-one help at senior living communities and community activity centers: smartphones, email, video calls, and staying safe online. We're talking with centers now.
Join us early
We're small, which means new volunteers shape how this group works.
- Tell us what interests you and when you're free.
- We'll reply with the next cleanup, transcription session, or planning call.
- Show up when you can. Nobody is locked into a schedule.
